Day 6

Remain

"...She will be like a tree planted by water that sends out its roots by the stream." (Jeremiah 17:8) What does it mean to be "rooted and grounded"? Believe it or not, there are amazing parallels with the weeds we find in our yard and the ones we find in our hearts. God wants our spiritual roots to be strong - He wants our lives free of weeds like worry, doubt, insecurity, and anxiety. This requires some purposeful tilling and caring for the soil in our hearts. Remain so thirsty for God that your roots shoot out to His throne where you are made strong in His presence.

Prayer is vital because it keeps us in alignment. So quickly we are prone to get out of alignment spiritually. Take notice when you do and begin to pray. Prayer brings our will in alignment with God’s will. God is a constant; He never moves away. We do. We tend to be all over the place. However, if we pray regularly and sincerely seek to know and follow God’s will, our lives will line up with His will and purpose. (I Thess. 5:17). Remain in His presence daily.

I Samuel 1:5 says, “But to Hannah he gave a double portion because He loved her.” Notice “because He loved her”. Hannah received the double portion simply because she was loved by God? Yes. Sometimes He blesses us just because He loves us. God loves us because He loves us. It’s that simple. Remain in His presence because He just wants to lavish His love on you.

When God is in control, you don’t need to be. He will arrange and rearrange circumstances just for you if it’s for your good. It is letting go and letting God do what He does best—taking care of those He loves. That means even if He takes a little while to answer your prayer. Remember He is developing your faith and your trust in God. Let your passion for God remain and even grow deeper.
