I actually found this list online, really liked it, and wanted to share it.
I'm going to add my comments on them in red
at the end of each one.

Thirteen Ways To Save Money

1. Stay home. The more you are out running around the more money you spend in purchases, gas, food, etc. This is a great one! Staying home can be lots of fun...play a game, read a book, watch a movie, take the dog for a walk. All free!!!

2. When you must go out, combine errands. Gas is expensive. If you can combine your errands into a once a week trip, you will save money and time. This is one I always do!

3. Pay with cash. This has been endlessly debated, but statistics show that people spend 12-18% less when paying with the green stuff, and I don’t mean American Excess. I know a lot of people who do the cash only policy. This is one that does not work in our house for some reason. We find that we spend less when we just use our debit card and track our spending. I think the point of this one is find a system that works for your family and stick with it, whether it's doing the cash system or something else. The name of the game is budget, budget, budget!!!

4. Eat at home. Unless you are a single person eating off the dollar menu at Wendy’s, it is hard to eat out for cheaper than what you can make at home. Strapped for time, bulk cook on the weekends so you will have food during the week. Another great one! It is stinkin' expensive to eat out all the time. We eat out maybe once a week but not usually more than that. And I bulk cook quite often on the weekends. When there is a good sale at the grocery store, I will make three or four meals on a Saturday morning and freeze them all. I fill the freezer and we have meals that we can just pull out and heat. It is the best!!!

5. When you leave a room turn out the lights. I am amazed at how many people don’t do this. You can also save on your electricity bills by using those compact fluorescent light bulbs. We have switched over to those in our house and I really do think they make a difference in the bill.

6. Cut your shower time in half. This is a really good one but I just can't do it.

7. Menu plan. Once again, this takes a few minutes at the beginning of the week but saves tons of money by avoiding extra trips to the store throughout the week or dining out because nothing is planned for dinner. I always have a meal game plan for our week. It can actually be kind of fun to do!

8. Don’t grocery shop when you are hungry. Totally agree! I may also add to this one "Don't let your husband come grocery shopping with you," although I love it when mine comes with me, even though it usually costs us more money. :)

9. Make a grocery list and stick to it. No impulse purchases. I do agree with this one, unless you see something on sale or a really good deal. Then I go ahead and pick it up!

10. Make one meatless meal a week. Hey, beans and rice are cheap. This is one I never thought of but I'm going to try it.

11. Get a library card. The library is free entertainment, from books to movies, to cds, libraries are an underutilized resource in my opinion. I love the library! I utilize the library very often. I do like to purchase all my church books, as I really like to mark those up, but fiction books and the like are excellent from the library. You can't beat free!!!

12. Drink more water. It is cheap and good for you. Another pretty inexpective thing as well is Crystal Light. We love it in the summer! Their raspberry lemonade is my ABSOLUTE favorite!

13. Research and attend local festivals. There are so many festivals, concerts, and activities going on in the summer and many of them are completely free, like concert on the square or the balloon rally that was in town a couple weeks ago. Pack up the family and head out to one!
