Mark 5:25-34
A woman who had suffered a condition of hemorrhaging for twelve years - a long succession of physicians had treated her, and treated her badly, taking all her money and leaving her worse off than before - had heard about Jesus. She slipped in from behind and touched his robe. She was thinking to herself, "If I can put a finger on his robe, I can get well." The moment she did it, the flow of blood dried up. She could feel the change and knew her plague was over and done with. At the same moment, Jesus felt energy discharging from him. He turned around to the crowd and asked, "Who touched my robe?" His disciples said, "What are you talking about? With this crowd pushing and jostling you, you're asking, 'Who touched me?' Dozens have touched you!" But he went on asking, looking around to see who had done it. The woman, knowing what had happened, knowing she was the one, stepped up in fear and trembling, knelt before him, and gave him the whole story. Jesus said to her, "Daughter, you took a risk of faith, and now you're healed and whole. Live well, live blessed! Be healed of your plague."
We have all heard people say, “Stay away from that lady, she has major issues!” The woman I will be talking about today had an issue. It was a health issue. We only know a few things about this woman. Her issue lasted 12 years and no one could help her. She was a very discouraged woman like many women with issues are today. She probably was tired of going to the doctors. People such as her friends were tired of listening to her complain and avoided her especially since she was shunned because of her issue. She needed a miracle. Then one day someone told her about a wonderful man named Jesus. At that moment her discouragement and fear did not control her but she took a risk of faith and left her house to find him. She immediately went up to fin him and all she saw was another obstacle. It was people, probably the ones that had shunned her. Have people in your life been an obstacle for you in taking a risk of faith for God? The woman did not care, she was desperate. She was at a place where she would do anything to get one touch from this wonderful man Jesus. This woman did what we all need to do when we have major issues in our life. She got down on her knees and crawled to Him. She probably was stepped on, laughed at and yelled at, but she didn’t care. She was desperate and needed a miracle. The word said she just put a finger on his robe and she was healed. Immediately Jesus knew He had been touched. Out of all the people that were touching Him hers was different. I believe it was because she took a risk off faith to reach Him. I ask you today, what are your issues? Issues mean nothing to God. Whether it is an issue of marriage, finances, children, your job or health. No one of these issues are greater than this wonderful man named Jesus. The greater the issues the greater the miracle, all it takes is one touch. Step out and take a risk of faith to trust Him. Believe Him, expect great things. Then after you receive it go tell a friend about that wonderful man named Jesus.
